Daniela Amodei didn't just build an AI company—she built a rebellion. After serving as VP of Operations at OpenAI, she and her brother Dario left in 2021 over fundamental disagreements about AI safety and the pace of commercialisation. Rather than accept the status quo of profit-driven AI development, they founded Anthropic with a radically different premise: that AI systems must be built with safety and ethics embedded from the ground up, not added as an afterthought.

As President, Daniela oversees the business and operational infrastructure that allows Anthropic to pursue long-term safety research without succumbing to the pressure to race recklessly toward AGI. She champions Constitutional AI—a method of training AI systems to be helpful, harmless, and honest by encoding human values directly into their development.
