How do you counteract digital online life in your everyday routine?

I think being a Millennial helps with that. We grew up without technology, so although I find it really really helpful, I also like being disconnected from social media and technologies. I don’t personally find it that hard. I like to do lots of things outside, like walking in the forest, just being present in the moment with my friends, and utilising things like instant cameras and Polaroids helps you capture moments without being super online. And just remembering to take a break.

What’s a favourite or secret AI hack in your personal life?

My favourite AI hack was when I used AI to create a PAW Patrol picture for my twin's’ second birthday, and then used that to make a really cheap birthday cake stencil for them! You can print a birthday cake for about £20, and a personalised cake like that would’ve cost double the price, but instead, I used AI to save money and make something even more personal!

What AI/tech policy would you like to see implemented in five years’ time that doesn't exist yet?

I feel like a lot of people are increasingly using AI for advice and validation, however, because it feels like AI is meant to give you a positive reaction rather than a fully honest one, you then get people who might be indulging in toxic behaviours. As in, being validated and then continuing that toxic behaviour, whereas if AI was a bit less willing to please the user, then you would get a much more honest response.

Who is your favourite fictional robot and why?

My favourite robot is WALL-E, because even though he was learning constantly, he had great empathy, knew right from wrong, was cute as a button, and even taught a robot that looked more advanced than him. He shows you that it’s not always the most advanced tech, it’s the tech created with humanity in mind that wins.

What is your first memory of using an LLM like ChatGPT or Claude?

I had a deadline for a pitch, and I knew what I wanted to write but I had no idea where to start. So I just word-vomited in the chat bar and it gave me a good skeleton for an idea. I was like “Oh my gosh, I've been wasting so much time in ADHD-freeze-world, and this tool is going to cut out so much of that.”
